People, and particularly the young of society, include hanging out on social media outlets as part of their daily routine. It’s a cute way of sharing snapshots of what’s going on in one’s personal life. It can be a quick and easy way of getting ahold of a friend. In the past few months, Facebook (or Mark Zuckerburg at least) has particularly been featured under … Continue reading Social Media As an Effect On and a Tool for the News Media

News Publications CAN Publish Biased Articles, But Only in Specific Genres

Newspapers and nearly all publishers of news are biased. This simple-to-understand fact is one of the factors which makes the world of news so difficult to navigate, both in readership as well as in the writing of the news stories themselves. Bias sounds like something really bad, and in the media business this quality can be quite detrimental. But bias is what makes us human; … Continue reading News Publications CAN Publish Biased Articles, But Only in Specific Genres

The generic plot slightly resembles that of Steven Spielberg‘s Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Though perhaps not as grand or as epic as Spielberg’s 1977 on-screen invasion, Signs os the least bit less suspenseful or emotional. Like … Continue reading Signs (2002) Film Review

Irwin Allen and the Prop from The Story of Ruth

Very recently, I discovered an old movie called The Story of Ruth, a 1960 romantic dramatization of the Biblical Book of Ruth. Interestingly enough, the Book of Ruth employs a type of title rare to texts found in the Holy Bible. Apart from the Book of Esther, Ruth is the only book of the Bible to be given a woman’s name for a title. The … Continue reading Irwin Allen and the Prop from The Story of Ruth

The Secret Life of Pets (2016) Review

The 2016 animated feature film The Secret Life of Pets was a rather successful picture when it hit the box office. The movie grossed several hundred million dollars more than the figure it cost to produce it. It depended strongly upon its elements of comedy (oftentimes crude or dark) and drama. From the title alone, it’s not hard to tell this is another one of … Continue reading The Secret Life of Pets (2016) Review
